     Magdalena Nafziger was born on 24 August 1827.¹ She married Valentine Birky, son of Christian Birky, on 19 March 1847.¹ Magdalena Nafziger died on 2 August 1908 at age 80.¹

     Jacob Birky was born on 4 May 1826 at Lutterbacherhof, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France.¹ He was the son of Christian Birky.¹ Jacob Birky married Magdalena Hochstettler on 10 December 1850 at Tazewell, Illinois, USA.¹ Jacob Birky died on 4 July 1883 at Garden City, Cass, Missouri, USA, at age 57.¹

     Magdalena Hochstettler was born on 7 February 1829 at Meringerau, Siebenbrunn, Bavaria, Germany.¹ She married Jacob Birky, son of Christian Birky, on 10 December 1850 at Tazewell, Illinois, USA.¹ Magdalena Hochstettler died on 28 May 1888 at Garden City, Cass, Missouri, USA, at age 59.¹

BIRKEY.-Joseph Birkey was born in Germany, Mar. 19, 1828, and died near Shickley, Neb., Dec 6, 1906; aged 78y. 8m. 17d.
On January 7, 1851, he was married to Mary Birkey. They lived in this relation for over fifty-five years. To this union were born nine children, three of whom have preceded him to the spirit world. Three sons, three daughters, fifty-three grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren are left to mourn their loss, but they mourn not as those who have no hope.
Bro. Brikey was deacon in the Mennonite church for twenty-nine years and was faithful to the trust placed upon him.
He was laid to rest on the 8, of December in the Salem cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Christian Beller of this place and Jacob Stauffer and Joseph Rediger, of Milford, Neb. A great many people assembled to show their love and esteem to one who had lived in their midst and also to show their sympathy to the bereaved ones. As his body now rests in the grave we believe his soul is sweetly resting on the shores of eternal deliverance. Peace to his ashes

Birkey.- Mary Birkey, wife of Joseph Birkey, died at her home near Shickly, Nebr., Dec. 28, 1908; aged 75 y. 9 m. 9 d. Her sickness was Bright's disease.      Birkey.- Silas Daniel, son of Valentine and Phoebe (Good) Birkey, was born in Fisher, Ill., May 21, 1897; died of a heart attack at Pontiac, Ill., Mar. 12, 1984; aged 86 y. On Dec. 19, 1917, he was married to Amanda Stalter, who survives. Also surviving are 6 daughters (Leota Springer, Marie Oyer, Velda Birky, Norma Nafziger, Joan Litwiller, and Carolyn Kutzner), one son (Lowell), 26 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers (Joe and Joel), and 3 sisters (Katie Zehr, Ada Foley, and Edna Schertz). He was preceded in death by one son (Aldine Birkey). He was a member of Waldo Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Mar. 14, in charge of Lester Zook; interment in Waldo Cemetery.²

     Valentine Springer was born on 15 March 1869 at Alsace Lorraine, France.^1,2 He married Emelia Katherine Unzicker on 3 October 1895 at Fisher, Champaign, Illinois, USA.^1,2 Valentine Springer died on 3 December 1961 at age 92.¹ He was buried on 6 December 1961 at Fisher, Champaign, Illinois, USA.²

     Emelia Katherine Unzicker was born on 21 July 1874 at Morton, Tazewell, Illinois, USA.^1,2 She married Valentine Springer on 3 October 1895 at Fisher, Champaign, Illinois, USA.^1,2 Emelia Katherine Unzicker died on 19 May 1964 at Fisher, Champaign, Illinois, USA, at age 89.²

     Paul Maurice Springer was born on 5 January 1920.¹ He died on 15 August 1994 at age 74.¹

     Aldene Lorene Birkey was born on 22 January 1923 at El Paso, Woodford and McLean, Illinois, USA.^1,2 She was the daughter of Silas Daniel Birkey and Amanda Mae Stalter.¹ Aldene Lorene Birkey died on 21 February 1923.^1,2

     Loren Joseph Birky was born on 12 July 1924.¹ He died on 1 October 2005 at age 81.¹ He was buried at Hopedale, Tazewell, Illinois, USA.¹

     Bertha Stahly was born on 28 August 1872.¹ She married Joseph A. Zehr, son of Andrew Zehr and Magdalena Zehr, in 1889.¹ Bertha Stahly died on 29 June 1953 at age 80.¹

     Paul L. Zehr was born on 20 January 1891.¹ He was the son of Joseph A. Zehr and Bertha Stahly.¹ Paul L. Zehr died on 11 October 1910 at age 19.¹

     Milo C. Zehr was born on 25 September 1893.¹ He was the son of Joseph A. Zehr and Bertha Stahly.¹ Milo C. Zehr married Rose Bachman on 23 February 1916.¹ Milo C. Zehr died on 8 March 1966 at age 72.¹

     Rose Bachman was born on 7 June 1892.¹ She married Milo C. Zehr, son of Joseph A. Zehr and Bertha Stahly, on 23 February 1916.¹ Rose Bachman died on 7 November 1979 at age 87.¹

     Roy Zehr was born on 15 April 1896.¹ He was the son of Joseph A. Zehr and Bertha Stahly.¹ Roy Zehr married Luella Lenz in 1919.¹ Roy Zehr died on 18 January 1953 at age 56.¹

     Luella Lenz married Roy Zehr, son of Joseph A. Zehr and Bertha Stahly, in 1919.¹ Luella Lenz died on 11 September 1942.¹

     Walter Andrew Zehr was born on 12 January 1900 at Flanagan, Livingston, Illinois, USA.^1,2 He was the son of Joseph A. Zehr and Bertha Stahly.¹ Walter Andrew Zehr married Leola Kipfer on 2 June 1926.² Walter Andrew Zehr died on 6 July 1953 at age 53; alternate date: 04 Jul 1953.^1,2

     Ella Mae Zehr was born on 28 November 1903.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph A. Zehr and Bertha Stahly.¹ Ella Mae Zehr married Amasa Daniel Yordy, son of Jacob K. Yordy and Catherine B. King, on 13 December 1922 at Flanagan, Livingston, Illinois, USA.^2,3,1,4 Ella Mae Zehr and Amasa Daniel Yordy appeared on the census of 1 April 1930 at Nebraska Twp., Livingston, Illinois, USA.² Ella Mae Zehr died on 14 March 1994 at Gridley, McLean, Illinois, USA, at age 90.^1,5

      Amasa Daniel Yordy also went by the name of Amsy.^1,3 He was born on 2 April 1901 at Nebraska Twp., Tazewell, Illinois, USA.^1,2,4 He was the son of Jacob K. Yordy and Catherine B. King.² Amasa Daniel Yordy married Ella Mae Zehr, daughter of Joseph A. Zehr and Bertha Stahly, on 13 December 1922 at Flanagan, Livingston, Illinois, USA.^5,1,2,4 Amasa Daniel Yordy and Ella Mae Zehr appeared on the census of 1 April 1930 at Nebraska Twp., Livingston, Illinois, USA.⁵ Amasa Daniel Yordy died on 7 December 1980 at Gridley, McLean, Illinois, USA, at age 79.^1,3,2,4 He was buried on 9 December 1980.⁴
