ROSZHART. - Ella, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Stalter, was born in Minonk Twp., Woodford, Co., Ill., June 7, 1902; passed away Sept. 17, 1945; aged 43 y. 3 m. 10 d. On Sept. 20, 1922, she was united in marriage to George Roszhart, who survives. She also leaves 2 daughters (Mary and Evelyn, at home), her father, 2 sisters (Mrs. Tillie Schertz, Washburn, Ill; and Ethel, Flanagan, Ill.), and 4 brothers (Edward and William, Gridley, Ill; Arthur and Ollie, of Flanagan). Her mother and two sisters preceded her in death. At an early age she united with the Waldo Mennonite Church and remained a faithful member until death. In spite of her years of suffering she was always an example of patience and kindness that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Always mindful of the afflictions of others, she was able to bring comfort to many, and her thoughtfulness will long be remembered by all who came in contact with her. Funeral services were held at the Waldo Mennonite Church, Sept. 19, in charge of J. D. Hartzler, assisted by G. U. Gundy.² Ella Stalter was born on 7 July 1902 at Minonk Twp., Woodford, Illinois, USA.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph Stalter and Elizabeth Saltzman.^3,4 Ella Stalter married George Roszhart on 20 September 1922.⁴ Ella Stalter died on 17 September 1945 at Waldo, Livingston, Illinois, USA, at age 43.¹ She was buried on 20 September 1945 at Waldo Twp, Livingston, Illinois, USA.¹

Stalter. - Joseph, son of Joseph and Christene Stalter, was born near Gridley, Ill., Nov. 23, 1870; passed away at the Mennonite Hospital, Bloomington, Ill; aged 77 y. 2 m. 9 d. For a year or more he had been in failing health, and was confined to bed for the last four weeks of his life. On Sept. 13, 1891, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Saltzman, who predeceased him. Surviving are 5 children (Mrs. Tillie Schertz, Metamora, Ill; Edward and William, Gridley, Ill; Ollie and Ethel, Flanagan, Ill.), 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one brother (John, of Gridley), and one sister (Mrs. Barbara Saltzman, of Flanagan). One son (Arthur), 3 daughters (Edna, Mrs. Mattie Beller, and Mrs. Ella Rosehart), and 2 grandchildren preceded him in death. In his youth he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and united with the Waldo Mennonite Church, of which he remained a member until death. At the time of his passing, when all his surviving children were at the bedside, he left a bright testimony that he was going on to join the loved ones who had gone before. Funeral services were held at the Waldo Church, in charge of J. D. Hartzler. Interment was made in the Waldo Cemetery.¹ Joseph Stalter was born on 23 November 1870 at Gridley, McLean, Illinois, USA.¹ He married Elizabeth Saltzman on 13 September 1891.² Joseph Stalter and Elizabeth Saltzman had nine children.² Joseph Stalter died on 1 February 1948 at Bloomington, McLean, Illinois, USA, at age 77.¹ He was buried at Waldo Twp, Livingston, Illinois, USA.¹

     Elizabeth Saltzman was born on 27 March 1871.¹ She married Joseph Stalter on 13 September 1891.¹ Elizabeth Saltzman and Joseph Stalter had nine children.¹ Elizabeth Saltzman died on 29 March 1938 at age 67.¹

     Geraldine Amanda Springer was born on 18 March 1927 at Hopedale, Tazewell, Illinois, USA.¹ She married Wayne Edward Zehr, son of Daniel Alvin Zehr Jr. and Kate Elizabeth Birkey, on 28 August 1945.¹ Geraldine Amanda Springer died on 7 March 2007 at East Peoria, Tazewell, Illinois, USA, at age 79.^1,2

Schertz, -- David H., son of Christian and Magdalena Schertz, was born Dec. 25, 1867, near Roanoke, Ill; died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Frank Harnish, near Eureka, Ill., Nov. 6, 1953; aged 85 y. 10 m. 12 d. When a young man he united with the Mennonite Church, being baptized in the Partridge Church west of Metamora. Later he transferred his membership to the Roanoke Mennonite Church, where he was a faithful attendant until ill health prevented. On Feb. 20, 1890, he was married to Bena Imhoff, who preceded him in death a year ago, Aug. 23, 1952. Surviving are 3 sons (Emanuel E., Eureka, Ill; Raymond and Chris, both of Washington), 2 daughters (Mrs. Matilda Ulrich and Mrs. Esther Harnish, both of Eureka), 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
