Birkey had fifteen (Edward, Simon, Clarence R., Alvina, Katherine, Pearl, Elsie, Orville Dale, John C., Anna Mae, Elmer, Pauline, Samuel, Jacob, Joseph) children.⁴ He married Magdalena M. Oyer, daughter of Christian Oyer and Katherine Zehr, on 31 January 1907 at Illinois, USA.^2,3 John E. Birkey and Magdalena M.      John G. Birkey was born on 14 January 1853.¹ He was the son of Andrew Birkey and Magdalena Garber. John G. Birkey married Catherine Schrock, daughter of André Schrag and Catherine Zehr, on 22 February 1876 at Illinois, USA. John G. Birkey died on 13 May 1932 at age 79.¹

Birkey, Joe C., son of Valentine and Phoebe (Good) Birkey, was born at Oberlin, Kans., Sept. 3, 1887; died at Gibson City Hospital, Gibson City, Ill., May 25, 1988; aged 100 y. On Dec. 21, 1910, he was married to Ida Zehr, who died on May 30, 1965. Surviving are 4 sons (Earl, Raymond, Leslie, and Harlan), 3 daughters (Dorothy M. Birkey, Eleanor Birkey, and Lois Bachman), 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one brother (Joel). He was a member of East Bend Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on May 28, in charge of Millard Osborne and Ted Wentland; interment in East Bend Memorial Gardens.

Zehr.- Katie Birkey, daughter of Valentine and Phoebe (Good) Birkey, was born in Decatur Co., Kans., Apr. 25, 1894; died at Mennonite Nursing Home, Meadows, Ill., Nov. 1, 1987; aged 93 y. On Dec. 17, 1913, she was married to Dan A. Zehr, who died in January 1973. Surviving are 3 sons (Melvin, Wayne, and Wilmer), 3 daughters (Lela Keller, Fern Helmuth, and Viola Birky), 27 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers (Joe and Joel Birkey). She was a member of East Bend Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Nov. 4, in charge of Millard Osborne and Mervin Birky; interment in East Bend Memorial Gardens.

     Katherine Birkey was born on 27 June 1915.¹ She was the daughter of John E. Birkey and Magdalena M. Oyer. Katherine Birkey died on 9 August 1916 at age 1.¹

     Katie M. Birkey was born on 12 December 1892 at Metamora, Woodford, Illinois, USA. She was the daughter of John G. Birkey and Catherine Schrock. Katie M. Birkey married Benjamin A. Zehr, son of Christian S. Zehr and Phoebe Zehr, on 6 December 1914.¹ Katie M. Birkey died on 14 April 1984 at Manson, Calhoun, Iowa, USA, at age 91.

     Levi F. Birkey was born on 7 March 1884.¹ He was the son of John G. Birkey and Catherine Schrock. Levi F. Birkey married Katherine Oyer, daughter of Christian Oyer and Katherine Zehr, on 1 March 1910.¹ Levi F. Birkey died on 7 September 1951 at age 67.¹

     Fanny M. Birkey was born in 1905 at Illinois, USA. She was the daughter of Andrew C. Birkey and Elizabeth Litwiller.
