The parish registers of Zeglingen are included with those of Kilchbergand some other neighboring villages on LDS microfilm 0935142 from whichmuch of the information about the Thoman/Thommens is derived. Theseregisters begin in 1559, which is about 100 years earlier than theregisters of Waldenburg-Oberdorf-Niederdorf. The records are reasonablycomplete from 1559 to beyond 1740. Although they are, in many instances,difficult to read, Mr. Andrews believes that he has been able to tracethe ancestry of emigrant TNa632 Jacob Thommen of Zeglingen back to nearthe beginning of the records.

There were several distinct families of Thommens living in Zeglingenduring this period. Individuals of these families were usually (but notalways) identified by their various occupations. Most of these familiesseem to have been employed in their respective trades from before thebeginning of the records in 1559.
